Rider Student Theater Company's longest tradition SWINGIN' THE SEASON 2024 IS READY!Â
Join us for a night of holiday cheer and warm hearts.
Fall F3: CABARET
Fade in on students with a hunger for fame and a face and a name to remember. PLEASE IM A STAR is a play taking place in acting class with selections from SMASH and highlighting monologues from your favorite classic plays. This performance demonstrates the highs and lows of performance, and the struggles and sacrifices that come with pursuing a career in show business. Through the eyes of the students we dive into the quest for artistic success, each with their own insecurities and ambitions that consume their body and soul. Prepare for a night of drama and laughter and tears just like pearls. Watch as these students share their passion and fight for their big dreams. Â
Directed by Bianca Danton
SUMMARYÂ
"Everything in Hatchetfield seemed normal until people began singing... Then, they began dancing... And now, a musical pandemic is sweeping the entire city. It’s up to Paul (an average guy who doesn’t like musicals) and his friends to stop this musical apocalypse and fight for humanity’s future." TeamStarkid.com
2024 F1: New Works
SUMMARY
1860s Wild West woman Bea must reenact the events leading to her gruesome demise in an attempt to save “Free Ride”, a distant relative living in modern times, who is on a road trip home across the country after dropping out of college.
Inspired by the surreal nature of the southwestern American desert and the true story of a civil-war era woman who was left for dead in her lover’s basement- with his wife right upstairs. The newer version of a thirty-minute one-act previously workshopped by Bella Frost in 2020 with San Diego Writers INK in collaboration with the La Jolla Playhouse.
